Children from Year 6 recently had a great week experiencing a variety of outdoor adventurous activities.
Day 1 saw us at Astbury Mere, with team-building activities to start, followed by katakanoeing in the afternoon. It was cold in the lake!
On Day 2 the rain came down and the views disappeared from ‘The Roaches’. However, we were not deterred from the day’s activities of weaselling (scrambling over and under the rocks) and rock climbing.
There was a long drive before we could start our activities on Day 3, and it was raining steadily all day, but orienteering off the bridge showed willpower and determination, especially by those who overcame their initial fears. An exhilarating experience!
Back at Astbury Mere for Day 4, with the sun shining at last, we spent the day on the lake, kayaking and canoeing.
Day 5 came too soon with bushcraft and raft-building to complete our week of activities.
As well as being great fun, the week saw children overcome fears, trying new activities with enthusiasm and determination.
